October 2022
Dear Praying Friends,
Thank you all once again for all your care in prayer for us. These last 2 months have been full of ministry in several new places. August was the month of our 25th year of marriage for Christi and I. We were so happy that this event corresponded with the time we were able to take the whole family out. We combined several things with this trip: to celebrate our 25th year anniversary, the renewal of four of our girl’s US Passports, and our annual “vacation”. The vacation was time spent with our eldest daughter Tabitha, her husband Caleb, and our two granddaughters in Alotau, Milne Bay Province. We had 7 days with them helping in various ways in their ministry, and 4 days going and coming through Port Moresby to purchase items for Kaintiba. It was amazing how Father provided for this trip, for the fees concerning the US Passport renewals, the fee for my Work Permit renewal and the fees for the renewal of ALL our Visas. Wow! Please pray this Visa renewal process will be accomplished in a timely manner, so we can get ready to attend the wedding of our eldest son, Titus’s wedding early next year.
We are honoured that our son, Titus, has chosen to follow the Bible principles in his life and choice in a wife. He has been living in Fairbanks, Alaska for over 4 years now, working his way through Bible School at Bible Baptist Church, and then finishing various aspects of aviation as a pilot. His wife to be (Abigail Sjoblom) has also trained at a linguistic school in Bowie, Texas (Baptist Bible Translators Institute), with a mind to follow the Lord in missions of sorts. We pray their marriage will be a continuation of their skill sets to do ministry for our Lord as He continues to lead them. Abigail’s parents have been overseeing their engagement process, of which they have done well in our place. We praise the Lord for their good example and leadership in the relationship of these 2 young people. We cherish their friendship.
Upon our return from our busy vacation trip, Father gave me the strength to build a small permanent/extendable classroom for the children. Up until now, the living room of our house was the only place we had for them to meet. Now, we pray this “room” will be an expansion of what God has given us to do in Kaintiba. It sure is a blessing to be in the work of the King and using the monies and abilities Father has given to us through your giving. This is more investment for eternity out here in this obscure place of the far flung corners of the world.
As I am writing this letter, we are in Wau, Morobe Province. Father opened a door for me to teach in the Wau Baptist Bible Training Center. This year the school is doing each course in due time, and I was allocated the class of all false doctrines. It is a new experience for me….teaching 4 hours every morning 5 days a week. Tomorrow I start the last of two weeks of teaching. It has been a joy, and also a time for the family to see the ministry of other missionaries. We are getting to meet other Christians and native Ministers as they prepare for what God has in store for them. We pray these students will catch a glimpse of Christ in us, and be edified and strengthened in their preparation.
Christi’s Corner: We are so happy about Titus and Abigail’s engagement. It is such a joy to have our son engaged to a godly young lady. I am thankful for the time we were able to get to know her while on our last furlough. We look forward to going to the wedding on the 19th of January, Lord willing. I was asked by Tabitha to teach the ladies on a Tuesday night while we were in Alotau. Also, here in Wau, I was asked by Verda Keck to teach her ladies Sunday school class last Sunday. I love to serve the Lord and especially enjoy teaching ladies His Word! It is a joy to be in the service of the King!!
For His Glory,
Mark and Christi Helzerman
